Ko Tuwharetoa Te Aupouri te tangata
Tena koutou katoa

Hello. Our names are Shanon, Victor, Kristen and Zane. We are Year 7 and Year 8 learners who attend Putauaki Full Primary School in Kawerau New Zealand. Our motto (otherwise known in Maori as whakatauki) is "I o mahi katoa mahia" meaning- Our Best Always in All Ways. Our Principal is Mr More who has been here for 18 years.
Anei tana korero ...A few words from Mr More...

DSC00796.JPG"I came here in 1991 but I was Principal at Paengaroa School and Otamarakau School before here. Putauaki is a family based school, our priniciple of whakawhanaungatanga is important in everything we do.
Children who stay at this school from Year 1- Year 8 generally leave as very strong learners, as caring young people and with a strong idea of who they are. Colleges who receive children from us at Year 8 level ask us to supply more children to them in future years. This is a mark of how good our school is and how well children develop with us".

We have fourteen teachers and a roll of approximately 320 learners.

Being a full primary school allows us to cater for learners from Year 0 - Year 8. As mentioned by our Principal, whakawhanaungatanga is the principle of our school which basically means tuakana-teina (older- younger) relationships and coming together for a common purpose.

There are 2 Year 7-Year 8 classes, 6 mainstream classes and 6 classes in Te Atea the Maori Enrichment Unit.

What is happening this Term at Putauaki?
We are participating in many outdoor activities that include waka ama (canoeing), abseiling, rock climbing, golf, snorkelling, swimming with the dolphins, interschool competition and camping.

We also have clases who will be collaborating with Berwick using Skype, voicethread and blogging. To read more about these exciting events, check out http://peak-ict.wikispaces.com and our blogs and wikis under Putauaki Primary.
